What Is a Linkable Linear LED Bar?

A linkable linear LED bar is a rigid, finished light fitting whose connectors are built into its end caps, so bars join end-to-end into one continuous line without a separate coupler. The ULIGHT 1010S applies this to display work: a 10×10.5mm aluminium housing with a milky PC diffuser and a single centred LED row, made to disappear inside retail fixtures, glass showcases and custom joinery.

It differs from a flexible LED strip in three ways. It is rigid and self-contained, so no aluminium channel or diffuser has to be bought separately. It is dot-free at close viewing distance, because the diffuser sits above a single LED row rather than exposing the emitters. And it links seamlessly, rather than being cut between LED groups and joined with visible couplers. That combination suits fixtures where the light has to look built-in, not added on.

Technical note: the silver metal block visible in the product photos is a mounting clip, not a connector. The clip fixes to the substrate first and the bar clips into it. The electrical connection between bars is made by the male/female connectors integrated into the end caps.

Why Does Dot-Free Light Matter for Display Fixtures?

In a glass showcase or a shallow shelf the viewer stands close to the light source. A bare LED strip shows a row of bright points and their reflections in the glass, which pulls the eye away from the product and makes the fixture look unfinished. The 1010S runs its single LED row behind a milky diffuser, so at normal viewing distance the bar reads as a continuous line of light rather than a string of dots. Inside a glass cabinet the diffuser also reduces the particulate reflections that make a bare strip look cluttered.

PROBLEM

Bare LED strips show visible dots and reflections at close viewing distance inside cabinets.

1010S SOLUTION

Milky PC diffuser over a single centred LED row gives an even, dot-free line.

PROBLEM

Joining lengths normally leaves a dark gap or needs a coupler to source and stock.

1010S SOLUTION

Connectors are integrated into the end caps — bars butt together into one continuous run.

PROBLEM

Fixed strip lengths rarely match the internal dimension of a custom cabinet.

1010S SOLUTION

Each bar is made to order at any length from 100 to 2700mm.

PROBLEM

One fixing method rarely suits steel, glass and timber in the same fixture programme.

1010S SOLUTION

Three fixings — magnet, adhesive tape, and a screw-fixed stainless clip.

Visible-dot performance still depends on viewing distance, installation position and diffuser selection, but the 1010S is designed for close-view display fixtures where a bare LED strip would show point light and reflections.

How Do the Bars Link Into One Continuous Line?

Each 1010S bar carries male/female connectors integrated into its end caps, with a cable exit at each end. Bars butt together end-to-end with the diffusers aligned, forming one uninterrupted line of light with no dark gap between sections and no separate coupler to source or stock. A single custom bar runs up to 2700mm; linked bars run up to 5000mm.

Two bars linked end to end — the diffusers align so the light reads as one continuous line across the join.
Driver and feed: for linked runs, driver size and feed position should be confirmed by total run length, voltage, wiring distance and project layout. ULIGHT can review the fixture drawing and recommend whether a single feed or a divided feed is more suitable.

Format: 1010S – [length in cm] – [CRI][CCT] – [voltage]. Example: 1010S-085-9030-12V = 85cm bar · CRI ≥ 90 · 3000K · 12V DC. Length is the bar length in centimetres padded to three digits (085 = 85cm). CRI digits: 90 = CRI ≥ 90, 95 = CRI ≥ 95. CCT digits: 27 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 50 / 60.

How Is the 1010S Installed?

Three fixing methods cover the substrates display fixtures are normally built from — steel, glass, timber, MDF and aluminium. Choose the method that suits the build.

When Should You Choose the 1010S Instead of Another ULIGHT Bar?

The 1010S and the 1010 are different products for different jobs. The 1010S is a linkable linear bar with a dot-free diffuser for cabinets, showcases and built-in display lines. The 1010 is a magnetic shelf bar for retail shelves and gondola fixtures used with DC power track.

Need more output? The 1512S is a brighter linkable linear bar in a slightly larger profile, for projects where 10 W/m is not enough for the display requirement. Contact ULIGHT for the current 1512S specification.

Where Is the ULIGHT 1010S Used?

The 1010S is specified by retail fixture manufacturers, showcase makers, cabinet and joinery workshops, and lighting contractors who need the light source to disappear into the build. It is most commonly used for:

  • Glass display cabinets and showcases — dot-free light at close viewing distance, with the diffuser reducing the particulate reflections a bare strip creates in glass
  • Custom millwork and joinery — bars made to the exact internal dimension and clipped to timber, so the fitting is hidden under the shelf front
  • Retail display fixtures and gondola shelving — a slim profile that hides in the frame while lighting the product rather than the fixture
  • Brand-store shelving and display counters — CRI ≥ 90 / ≥ 95 for accurate product colour, with seamless linked runs across long counters
  • Built-in display lines in interiors — continuous runs up to 5000mm where a visible join or dark gap would break the design

Millwork application: a slim linear bar concealed under the shelf front lights the display surface without the fitting being visible.

NOT IDEAL FOR

  • Projects that need higher brightness than 10 W/m in the same display area — review the 1512S instead
  • Wet, outdoor or IP-rated environments, unless a project-specific version is confirmed
  • Fixtures that cannot accept a 10 × 10.5 mm rigid aluminium bar
  • Installations powered only through a magnetic DC track system — review the 1010 Slim Magnetic LED Bar

Frequently Asked Questions

Use a diffused linear bar rather than a bare LED strip. The ULIGHT 1010S runs a single centred LED row behind a milky PC diffuser, so at normal viewing distance inside a cabinet the light reads as a continuous line rather than a row of dots. The diffuser also reduces the reflections a bare strip creates in glass.
The 1010S is a finished rigid luminaire with a 6063 aluminium body, milky PC diffuser, connectors integrated into the end caps, and three fixing options. A flexible LED strip normally needs a separate aluminium channel, diffuser, coupler and mounting accessories to achieve a similar built-in appearance, and is cut between LED groups rather than linked seamlessly.
Yes. Male/female connectors are integrated into the end caps, so bars butt together end-to-end into a continuous run of up to 5000mm with no dark gap between sections. There is no separate coupler to source, stock or match. A single custom bar runs up to 2700mm.
Yes. The driver should be selected according to total linked length, voltage, wiring distance and project layout. ULIGHT can review the fixture drawing and recommend a suitable feed method and driver capacity for the run — including whether a single feed or a divided feed is more appropriate.
The ULIGHT 1010S has a finished cross-section of 10 × 10.5 mm including the diffuser cover, small enough to hide inside most retail shelf, showcase and cabinet frames while still linking end-to-end into a continuous run.
Yes. Each bar is made to order at any length from 100mm to 2700mm, so the bar matches the internal dimension of the fixture. Linked bars extend the run to 5000mm. Length, CRI, CCT and voltage are confirmed at order stage using the ordering code.
Three fixing methods cover the substrates display fixtures are normally built from: a magnetic strip for steel and other ferrous surfaces, double-sided adhesive tape for glass and other smooth non-drillable surfaces, and a screw-fixed stainless clip for timber, MDF and similar materials.
The 1010S holds CE for its standard configuration. UL and cETL are available by project order, with lead time and configuration confirmed before the order is placed. Certifications vary by model and order specification, and certificate numbers are provided for confirmed project orders.
No minimum order quantity. Samples ship in approximately 5–7 working days and mass production runs 3–4 weeks. OEM and ODM are supported, including custom length, CCT and CRI configuration.
